Set over 5,000 years ago, in a time shrouded in myth and legend, The Scorpion King follows the story of Mathayus, a fearsome Akkadian warrior and skilled assassin. The once-great city of Gomorrah is now under the tyrannical rule of the ruthless warlord Memnon, who has used dark magic and the prophetic visions of a mysterious sorcerer to conquer and oppress the surrounding desert tribes. One by one, these tribes have fallen, and only a few nomadic groups remain.
Faced with annihilation, the last of the tribes forge a fragile alliance. Their only hope lies in striking at the heart of Memnon’s power: the sorcerer who predicts his every move. The tribes hire Mathayus to eliminate this key figure, but his mission takes an unexpected turn when he discovers that the seer is a beautiful and intelligent woman named Cassandra (played by Kelly Hu), who is being held against her will.
